I have been thinking about healing a lot lately. I have been thinking about how healing is never linear, how it is full of layers and spirals, how it has bumpy starts and stops; and I have been thinking about how messy it can be. Healing is messy. Self discovery is messy. Travel is messy. Growth is messy. Child birth is far from pristine. The process of nourishing our bodies and digesting our food, no matter how healthy and aligned with our needs our meal choices are always creates a mess, both in the preparation stage and release.

Life is messy, and messy doesn’t always mean bad. Sometimes messy moments create nutrients for future and current life. Sometimes the messiness is divinely inspired. It is the magic of our soul twirling us around in circles until we no longer know which way is up leaving us with no choice other than to listen to our own internal compass and reorient ourselves. But sometimes in our messiness we cause harm. In trying to find our voice we take away the voice of others. In an effort to provide ourselves with safety, we steal it from others. These actions take place when we are aligned with fear, separation, and ego and they begin to tear at the interconnectivity of life. As we heal we eventually get to a place where we can see our actions for what they were, moments where we were thrashing away in the darkness, fearful that we were going to drown in the noise and confusion. When we reach this point we must make amends. We must restore balance. We must mend the tears. And we can do this with intention and focus.

There will be times in your life where you can make amends face-to- face, and say directly to a person. “I was a mess. I was blinded to how my actions affected anyone outside myself. I was not moving in Love in those moments. I was moving in fear and causing chaos and pain. I hurt you. You deserved better. You deserve better, and I will do my part to restore you to  your beautiful and brilliant self. I will help you heal.”

But in some cases, the best thing we can do is remain afar and acknowledge that the pain we caused was too great for us to help directly in the healing process. And that’s okay. We can still intentionally send the Divine Energy we carry to mend those hearts and realities. That’s what this prayer is for.

Thanks for letting me share.

Love and Light, Brandi
