But today I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Pride Month. As a cis, more-or-less straight ally, I like to stay in the background for festivities and celebrations. I like to watch the LGBTQIA+ community around me claim the spotlight and celebrate their wholeness and their truth. But I also, think it is important to acknowledge how much I, and other allies, have been gifted and supported by the queer community.
I have learned so much from my non-straight, non-cis friends, and even queer artists and performers I have never met. They have helped me feel seen and supported at some of my lowest moments, and most importantly they helped me to understand and OWN the fact that I know myself better than the outside world. They taught me not to run away from who I am. As they showed up fully in the world, refusing to hide parts of themselves, I found the courage to do the same. They taught me how to love my true self and to accept my gifts of spirit. It is because of their example that I am here doing the work that I am doing today. So, from the bottom of my heart thank you to every person showing the world what it looks like to love your self and be moved by your soul! You opened up the world for me. You helped me to breathe.
And I swear it wasn’t planned, but in today’s Daily Message Love Energy gave a shout out to Pride Month too! I wanted to share it with all of you. Please pass it along.
